1. How do I make your News Server transparent to my users?
If you do not want your users to know that you are outsourcing your news server, use the following simple, single entry in your DNS file.

  • Let's assume that you call your news server, news.myisp.net
  • Insert the following entry in your DNS file:
    news.myisp.net
    .  
    IN CNAME    news.greennet.net.
  • (it is VERY important that you include the "." after news.myisp.net.
  • Tell your users to point their news reader to news.myisp.net
  • That's it!

2. Where do I get a copy of an "active.dat" file?
The "active.dat" file contains a list of the newsgroup that a news server carries. You can download  a copy from our news server below:
